A York Exhibition of Japan's First Railway - 22/08/2011

For a great day out for all the family and a treat for children (even the grown up ones) the National Railway Museum at Leeman Road in York is a special place to indulge, learn and take in the best in examples of the railways achievements throughout our history. One of the latest exhibitions entitled "Japan's First Railway" which is a collection of Colour Woodblock Prints from the 1870s.

This is a rare opportunity to see the beautiful Japanese woodblock prints, showing the excitement surrounding the introduction and development of the railways across Japan, with the opening of the first Japanese railway line in 1872. The debut exhibition features beautiful a beautiful collection of woodblock prints from the 1870s enabling you to relive the glamour and excitement surrounding the railways introduction and their modernisation of Japan.

The debut exhibition is being held in the National Railway Museums' new Art Gallery, this truly is an unmissable opportunity to see these historical colourful and fascinating prints, on loan from Japan's Modern Transport Museum, Osaka. The exhibition is running through daily till the 4th of September and will be sure to fun and educational day out for all.
